In 1999 our founder Paul Singh had a vision – infrared night vision to be precise – Paul worked with a leading manufacturer to design and produce the world's first IR Bullet Camera, and he was determined to bring his cutting-edge technology to the mass market.

Despite the massive potential of Paul’s new IR night vision cameras and the foundations they would lay for the future of surveillance technology, major installers and distributors couldn’t see what Paul saw and refused to sell the product. So he decided to do it himself.

Y3K was founded in February 2000 with the sole aim of designing and supplying cutting-edge security products.

During the first 20 years Y3K launched products that changed the security industry forever - including Wi-Fi cameras, DVRs, IP cameras, Dashcams and Video Telematics.

In 2021 Y3K had its biggest commercial success to date when SmartWitness, which was originally the Video Telematics division of Y3K, was sold for $200m.

Y3K will continue to innovate and grow in the security industry by focusing on the latest technologies and continuously improving products and services to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

The company will continue to build on its strong reputation for quality, reliability and excellent customer service.

In 2023 Y3K launched its new AI-powered Asset Protection and IoT software solutions, focused on protecting and streamlining businesses of all sizes.
