Police hunt SELFIE taking 'thief who posed for pic before breaking into cellar to steal bikes'
Officers said the man, who was caught on CCTV taking a selfie, is suspected of carrying out a number of burglaries in the space of four days
Is this the stupidest 'thief' in the world?
Police said the man took the selfie, caught on a CCTV camera, moments before breaking into a basement of a house to steal expensive bicycles. The CCTV camera, using Infrared LEDs to capture the suspect’s features, shows the man ‘posing’ for a snap.
He is suspected of carrying out similar raids at properties across Vienna, Austria, in the space of four days, making off with items worth thousands of pounds.
Police have release the picture of him taking a selfie in a bid to identify him.
A police spokesman said: "We believe he is lying low at the moment and if he's a foreigner he may have already left the country because the image is certainly pretty clear, and we're confident someone must know him.”
Luckily, the basement was equipped with CCTV with the ability to view images in darkness much like the Xvision XC960S30IRN, enabling the police to have a very good chance of catching the criminal. The camera has up to 150m of Infrared Night Vision and also an Auto Focus feature, which would allow it to focus on the criminal and produce an excellent image.
This type of crime costs families and business thousand’s of pounds and using CCTV can help prevent these crimes and provide evidence when trying to catch the suspect.
