BBC DJ helps convict brother's burglars by posting CCTV on Twitter

Sara Cox, the BBC presenter, has helped put two burglars behind bars after she tweeted CCTV pictures of them raiding her brother's home.

The Radio 2 DJ, 40, posted images of brothers Gary and Barry Foulkes breaking into the garage of businessman Robert Cox, 53, and stealing gardening equipment worth £720.

The star asked her 750,000 Twitter followers to help identify the pair with a series of posts on Twitter.

Within 24 hours, the Foulkes brothers were identified and subsequently arrested and charged over the break-in.

At Bury Magistrates' Court, 33-year-old Gary Foulkes was locked up for 16 weeks and Barry, 28, was sentenced to 12 weeks after they both admitted burglary. The pair, who have a string of previous convictions, were each ordered to pay £360 compensation.

The CCTV used around the premises, equipped with Infrared Night Vision was able to provide clear images and allow the criminals to be identified and arrested. This story highlights the need for security around both a business premises and at home.
